The project aims to support the decarbonization of Belize’s transport sector in alignment with the country’s updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It involves implementing a public-private partnership (PPP) framework to modernize the national transport sector through the transition to and penetration of electric vehicles (EVs). The project specifically focuses on conducting financial feasibility, environmental impact, and gender assessments for business models to integrate e-mobility into the public transport sector.
The following activities are conducted:
-Analyze the existing public transport landscape and assess e-mobility readiness.
-Review the draft National EV Strategy 2024 and identify gaps.
-Develop Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models comparing diesel and electric buses, including sensitivity analysis.
-Organize workshops and consultations with key government bodies (MoTYS, BEL, etc.) and private operators to validate findings.
-Identify project risks and define mitigation strategies for quality assurance.
-Prepare a Policy and Institutional Framework Design Report and a final implementation/investment package.
