MOBILITY STUDY IN PORT-AU-PRINCE

Framework

The study aims to assist the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC) in improving mobility and transport in Port-au-Prince (Haiti).

The project

The study has the following objectives: – to help the MTPTC to deepen its knowledge of mobility; – to carry out field activities in order to collect a reliable set of information; – to deepen its knowledge of the different urban sectors of P-a-P and the metropolitan network; – to define an intervention strategy on public transport supply.

The activities of the study are organised in four blocks: – deepening the knowledge of the southern sector; – deepening the knowledge of the metropolitan network; – deepening the knowledge of the northern sector; – defining experimental interventions to improve the transport offer.

The study blocks are accompanied by the implementation of two parallel transversal activities, concerning the strengthening of project management, as well as the collection of data and information through surveys and counts.

Within the project, training seminars in mobility analysis techniques are organised for MPTC officers.
